Grues is a little village located 16km from Luçon in Vendée, in the region of Pays de la Loire.
When you're on the A83 highway (Nantes - Niort), you must take the exit n°7 towards Luçon. Then you'll be driving on the National road N137 wich goes through St Jean de Beugné, Ste Gemme la plaine and finally Luçon. There you must follow the signs showing town centre. At one point, you'll find a sign showing l'Aiguillon sur Mer or Triaize on your left. Take this road (the D746). Once you've arrived in Triaize, turn right towards St Denis du Payré (road D25). In St Denis du Payré, stay on the D25 towards Grues.
Once you're in Grues, you arrive on the Avenue de Lattre de Tassigny. Continue straight ahead. Take Rue Georges Clemenceau D25 on your right. At the intersection, turn right onto Rue du 1er Mai. Take 1st left (Allée des Ormeaux). Look for n°10, that's it !

Visit the Royal Abbey of St Michel en l'Herm, from which started the Poitou's evangelization (built in 682). See the 12th century chapter house, the 13th century califactory and the 17th dinner room. Tickets are available at the Tourist office right beside the abbey, open on tuesday, thursday and friday in July and August.

Museum André Deluol (1909-2003), seet a hundred of works by this famous 20th century parisian sculptor who retired in St Michel en l'Herm in 1989 and gave part of his collection to the town.

Near Fontenay-le-Comte starts the "Green Venice" with its numerous canals and delightful boat outings, a charming way to discover the wet marshes.

Poets and perfume lovers will perhaps prefer the magnificient Flower Park of the Aron Court and its nice castle !

Only 10km far from Grues, Luçon is a town you can't miss. Its gothic cathedral was built by Richelieu, also see the Chapelle des Ursulines and its painted ceiling and the wonderful Dumaine Garden.
